Windows 95/98/ME Internet Connection Wizard
Here is a guide to show you how to set your PC up so you can connect to TekSavvy. You can do this by using the Internet Connection Wizard that comes built in to Windows ME, 98 and 95.- Click Start and then click Run.
- Type in INETWIZ and click the OK button. You can type this in all capitals or all smalls. It will run either way.
- Check that Connect using my phone line is selected and then click the Next button.
This page applies to you if you have more than one modem in your computer and therefore need to choose which one to use.
- If you have a single modem then click the Next button here.
- If you have multiple modems then you need to choose which
modem to use for your TekSavvy connection from the Drop-down
menu.
- Click the Next button to continue.
- Enter your area code in the Area Code box
- Type the local access number that you were given by TekSavvy
in the phone number box.
- Check the country code is Canada (1). If it isn't then select
Canada (1) from the drop-down menu.
- Check that there isn't a tick next to Dial using the area code
and country code.
- Click the Next button to continue.
- Type in your TekSavvy username in the Username box.
- Type in your TekSavvy password in the Password box.
In other words if you type in USERNAME (uppercase) instead of username (lowercase) TekSavvy will not recognize you. The same thing goes for the password. Type in your Username and Password exactly as you chose them when you subscribed to our service. The password you type in shows up as a bunch of stars to keep it private.
- Click the Next button.
- Type in TekSavvy as the Connection name and then click the Next button.
- In the Setup your Internet Mail Account page check that you
have a dot next to Yes so that you can set up your email.
- Click the Next button.
- Type in the Name that you want others to see when you send
them emails.
- Click the Next button.
- Type in your TekSavvy email address.
Please note that email addresses are not case sensitive. So that JOE.BLOGGS@TEKSAVVY.COM and joe.bloggs@teksavvy.com are the same email address. This is not true for TekSavvy Usernames and Passwords.
- Click the Next button.
- Check that My incoming mail server is a POP3 server
- Type in mail.teksavvy.com for the Incoming mail server.
- Type in mail.teksavvy.com for the Outgoing mail server.
- Click the Next button when you are done.
- Type in your Xtra username in the Username box.
- Type in your Xtra password in the Password box. If the password box is greyed out then put a tick in the Remember Password box.
The password you type in shows up as a bunch or stars to keep it private. If you want to type in a password every time you check your email then leave the Remember Password box unchecked.
- Click the Next button.
- All done! Click the Finish button.
Your PC is now ready to connect to TekSavvy.
To get online just double click onto the Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop to surf the Web.
