Internet Explorer 5 & 6 Settings

  • From Internet Explorer select the "Tools" menu and then select "Internet options". This will open the "Internet Properties" window.
General Tab
  • Type in http://www.teksavvy.com as the Home page address.
     
  • Under the heading "Temporary Internet Files" click the button that says "Delete Files". You will see a pop-up window. In this window, put a tick in the box that says "Delete all offline content", then click the "OK" button.
     
  • Further down this screen, you will see a section entitled "History". In this section, you need to click the button that says "Clear History". This will bring up a confirmation window. Click "Yes" to delete the history files.
Security Tab
  • Click the "Security" tab.
     
  • Highlight the World shaped "Internet" icon. You can use Internet Explorer's default security settings by then clicking the "Default Level" button. If you are an advanced user you can customize Internet Explorer's security settings by clicking on the "Custom Level" button instead and then choosing what you want to allow or disallow.
Privacy Tab
  • Click the "Privacy" tab. This area allows you to set up your Cookie preferences.
     
  • On this screen you will see a vertical scroll bar that allows you to choose your Security settings. If it is not there, then click the "Default" button.
     
  • Select the level of Security you would like from the scroll bar. 
Content Tab
  • Click the "Content" tab.
     
  • Under the "Content Advisor" heading you can enable Internet Explorer's "Content Advisor" feature. 
Connections Tab
  • Click on the "Connections" tab.
     
  • Select the TekSavvy icon in the "Dial-up Settings" box, then click on the "Set Default" button. If there is no TekSavvy icon in the "Dial-up Settings" box then click here for guides on setting up your PC to connect to TekSavvy by using the Internet Connection Wizard. If the "Set Default" button is grayed out then check that either "Always dial my default connection" or "Dial whenever a network connection is not present" is selected.
     
  • Click on the "Apply" button at the bottom of the screen, then click on the "Settings" button in the "Dial-up Settings" area.
  • Check that there is nothing ticked on this page. Then click the "OK" button.
     
  • Click onto the "LAN Settings" button on the bottom of the window.
  • Check that nothing is ticked here on the "LAN settings" window either and then click "OK".
Programs Tab
  • You can select your default email program on this page under "Internet Programs" in the "E-Mail" box. This should be set to "Outlook Express" by default.
Advanced Tab
  • The settings on this page give you options in customizing Internet Explorer's features. Use the "Restore Defaults" button to undo any changes you make here.
     
  • Click "OK" to close the "Internet Properties" page.
All Done! Internet Explorer is set to connect to TekSavvy. Restoring Your Defaults Windows 95/98/ME
  • Click Start.
  • Click on Settings.
  • Click on Control Panel.
  • Double click on Internet Options.
  • This should open the Internet Options Properties window.
  • Click on the Advanced tab.
  • At the bottom of the window their will be a Restore Defaults button.
  • Click the Restore Defaults button.
  • Click the OK button. All Done!
This should restore the Internet Explorer default settings. Windows XP
  • Click Start.
  • Click on Control Panel.
  • Double click on Internet Options.
  • This should open the Internet Options Properties window.
  • Click on the Advanced tab.
  • At the bottom of the window their will be a Restore Defaults button.
  • Click the Restore Defaults button.
  • Click the OK button. All done!
This should restore the Internet Explorer default settings.
