TekSavvy kicks off YMCA Strong Kids campaign
February 16th, 2012. Chatham, Ontario.
The Chatham-Kent YMCA takes kids “off the couch” and into fun and physical activity. But one in five members of C-K’s YMCA are subsidized in some way, and the organization has a policy of not turning anyone away because of their financial circumstances.
Enter the C-K YMCA’s Strong Kids campaign. TekSavvy Solutions Inc. (“TekSavvy”) helped kick off the 2012 campaign with a $10,000 donation.
"We are pleased to help people in our community through such a wonderful organization," says Tina Furlan, TekSavvy's director of marketing and communications.
The annual fundraiser offers families and individuals experiencing challenging financial circumstances subsidized memberships to help them adopt healthy lifestyles. Funds also send children to summer day camp, as well as assisting seniors on a fixed income to stay active.
Families and seniors in need pay what they are able, and the funds help cover the rest.
A total of 1,954 individuals were supported through the campaign last year. This year’s goal is $102,000. All funds are spent locally.
